The duplex fire broke out in the 200 block of East Canal Street in the village of Sand Beach at 5:09 a.m., according to Union Deposit Volunteer Fire Company 47.
A cellphone charger plugged into an overused power strip exploded, sparking the blaze that quickly spread through that home, officials explained.
"All residents got out safely," according to the release.
Four adults, two children, two dogs, and three cats were displaced but thankfully not injured, officials explained. They have been assisted by the American Red Cross of Greater PA.
Most of the fire damage was contained to the rear of the home, and the residents were insured. The estimated cost of the damage was unavailable.
East Canal Street was closed in the area of Shetland Drive and Sand Beach Road until firefighters cleared the scene at 8:29 a.m.
The following fire companies/departments assisted at the scene: Citizens #1 of Penbrook, Hummelstown, Linglestown No. 1 - Station 35, Hershey Volunteer, Middletown Volunteer, Palmyra, Grantville Volunteer, Lower Swatara, and Campbelltown Volunteer.
